Biography
Most memorable race: Ridiculous(ly effective) team tactics in the 2008 MB WCCC (collegiate) conference championships road race. We had an early false break, a bridger who wheelsucked and discouraged the break, then I solo attacked on some rollers after a long climb a little over halfway, later joined by a teammate and we went 1-2 with no Davis on the podium. Awesome. That and the Mt Evans Hill Climb (outside Denver): from 7000ft to 14000ft. Oh yeah. (The return descent took me 1 hour)What got me into cycling: My dad, after he said good-bye to jogging, decided to do an American Lung Association tour, loved it and has been riding ever since. He got me hooked by inviting me to do centuries untrained after I started working 80 hrs per week.
Top lifetime accomplishments: Marrying Mary-Beth, loving her, and loving it. Adequately training for and finishing an Ironman. Then doing it again.
Cycling accomplishments: I'd say cycling from San Francisco to my parents' place in Carmichael (the far side of Sacramento, by way of Napa) in one day in 100+ degree heat was an accomplishment

What got me into racing: A colleague of mine who got his PhD at Caltech told me how great collegiate racing was. I had considered road racing and TTs in order to improve my triathlon performance and haven't looked back. From Ironman to crits and match sprints...hm.
Music that gets me going before a race: The theme from 'Weekend Edition' (not the slow part)
Favorite ride: Mountain Charlie!!!
Best team moment: Rob Meyer's leadout for Ethan Atkins at the 2009 Giro. Pure beauty.

Favorite way to consume Metromint: Straight from the bottle straight from the fridge.
